After Blasting the gene, we looked at the top hit which was a unidentified protein found in Zea mays and looked at that gene with the Maize genome browser to see where this gene was located and to find possible ESTs and confirm that it is a true gene. From the Genome browser we can see that there a number of transcripts and ESTs available for this gene. This gene was also confirmed by the prescence of the another gene found in our sequence when zoomed out. The gene sequence also matched to a region in our original sequence so we know that it is truly there.
