A blast search against the protein database reveals a 91% match to ornithine carbamoyltransferase[Zeamays] with an e-value of 5E-33. It catalyzes the reaction between carbamoylphosphate (CP) and ornithine (Orn) to form citrulline (Cit) and phosphate (Pi).

    EST evidence:

There is good evidence for both the exons when a blastn search is done against the est database. The top hit is a Zea mays mRNA sequence with 94% identity abnd an e-value of 0. There are a lot of ests with greater than 93% identity.

    Protein function prediction:

Pfam revealed no hits, while Blast2GO confirmed the close hit of ornithine carbomyltransferase. The function was given as kinase activity, amino acid binding and carbomyltransferase activity, while the processes affected were phoshorylation, cellular amino acid metabolic processes.
